以投资角度出发的话，西洋古典艺术无疑是稳健之选。价钱少有大起大落，却一直稳步上扬。伦敦昨夜的古典艺术晚拍，佳士得就刷新了两项纪录，带来近£3,120万（RMB 2.7亿）成交额。

首先是《The Holy Family》（意为圣家），出自谢拉‧大卫（Gerard David，1460-1523）之手。此画曾于一个欧洲家庭传承整个世纪，至2003年在纽约佳士得上拍，连佣约US$100万成交。

谢拉‧大卫自画像

谢拉‧大卫活于文艺复兴时期，在世时就相当成功，于布鲁日和安特卫普都有画廊。这位荷兰画家擅长描绘基督的家庭生活，此画就是绘玛利亚、小耶稣和约瑟。小耶稣手上拿着的水果，就是基督宗教里甚有象征意义的苹果。

画作今次估价£150万 - 250万，引来多个电话竞投争夺，最终以£410万落槌，由古典大师绘画部高层雷森（Paul Raison）的客户投得。连佣成交价近£485万（RMB 4,200万），刷新谢拉‧大卫拍卖纪录。

另一幅是林布兰（Rembrandt，1606-1669）的作品，描绘圣经新约中耶稣基督受审一幕。此作£220万落槌，同样由电话委托投得，连佣近£265万（RMB 2,300万）成交，打破这位荷兰大画家的版画拍卖纪录。

左至右为彼拉多、巴拉巴、耶稣

三位主角在画作中央，左至右为彼拉多、巴拉巴、耶稣。彼拉多是犹太地区总督，乃罗马帝国派来管治的地方首长；巴拉巴为囚犯，是犯下叛乱、杀人罪的强盗；耶稣大家知道，因为传道而得罪了犹太同族祭司。

林布兰自画像

一日，一群犹太人和祭司押着耶稣来到总督府，大呼小叫，要求彼拉多处死他。彼拉多审问耶稣后，虽知对方无罪，惟不敢犯众怒，遂让群众两选一，是要释放耶稣还是强盗巴拉巴。群众在祭司煽动下，选择杀死耶稣，彼拉多于是判耶稣十字架之刑。此画捕捉的就是这场审讯。

较为可惜的是，这场晚拍的另一幅领衔肖像画最终流拍。此画出自鲁本斯（Peter Paul Rubens，1577-1640）之手，画中人是这位大画家的爱女Clara。鲁本斯绘画此作时，她的人生已几乎走到尽头。大家可以想像，这位父亲每一笔画下去，爱女的生命又流逝了一点，这种心情是何等滋味。
