提到马格利特（René Magritte），大家定必想起他笔下那西装男，不是背着观众，就是脸前面有苹果、白鸽，老看不到样貌，引起无穷悬念。这位超现实大师的画作即将在伦敦上拍，不但揭开西装男子的庐山真面目，更有机会刷新个人拍卖纪录。

《快乐原则》去年刷新马格利特个人拍卖纪录
佳士得将于2月27号在伦敦举行「超现实主义晚拍」，由马格利特领衔，估价头五位都是这位比利时艺术家的画作。当中以看得见脸的西装男画作《Le lieu commun》最为瞩目，估价£1,500万 - 2,500万（RMB 1.3亿 - 2.2亿）。
去年11月，马格利特画作《快乐原则》在苏富比上拍，连佣US$2,830万成交，写下这位比利时艺术家的拍卖纪录。此金额兑换成英镑的话，大概是£2,077万。佳士得的新佣金收费本月起生效，我们按此计算，今次只要超过£1,800万落槌，应该就能刷新马格利特拍卖纪录。

1964年，马格利特创作了一系列四幅画作，画中人俱是戴着圆顶礼帽的西装男，从此成为他的标记。四幅画作中，三幅的画中人脸孔都给挡着，当中以青苹果掩面的《Le fils de l'homme》（The Son of Man，通常译作人子）最脍炙人口，半世纪以来触发数之不尽的「二次创作」。 1998年，此画于纽约佳士得上拍，连佣US$539万成交。
此四幅画作中，只有今次上拍的《Le lieu commun》（画名有共同、平凡之意）是看得见画中人样貌。西装男的含意，各家自有演绎。以下是其中一个主流解释：男子穿西装、戴圆顶礼帽，乃中产阶级服装典型标志，象征遵守社会规范的无趣人生，代表社会大多数的平凡人。

另一个主流意见是：西装男其实是马格利特本人的自画像。确实，这位艺术家喜欢戴同类礼帽拍照，但不少专家不认同自画像这个说法。 50年代，马格利特有几幅名作，悉数以「一堆」西装男入画。专家认为，64年的西装男是从此一脉相承而来，象征「众生／每个人」，和自画像并无关系。
这幅看得见脸的西装男画作，来源有序，最早是直接从艺术家本人而来，曾为东京的富士美术馆（Fuji Museum）所藏，现在属于亚洲私人收藏，今次是面世以来首度上拍，绝对有机会刷新纪录。
